Professional indemnity insurance related news for Doctors and Dentists

This article is relevant for Doctors and Dentists and discusses proposed changes regarding the advertising of such services.

The Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (the National Law) in each Australian state regulates medical and dental practitioners’ conduct, which extends to the advertising of services provided to patients. It is therefore important for you to have a thorough understanding of your obligations as a dental or medical practitioner, including any proposed changes to your obligations when advertising the services offered by you and your practice to patients. This article discusses the proposed amendments to the National Law as it relates to using ‘testimonials’ to advertise your services and the significant increase of penalties should you be found to have breached your advertising obligations.
