Doctors’ Medical Indemnity Insurance : Adverse results from regulatory enquiries can lead to the publication of a medical practitioner’s name on public websites

In the year to June 2020, 7,254 registered medical practitioners Australia wide, including HPCA and OHO data, had Regulatory notifications made about them. This is about 5.8% of the profession.

Of the notifications closed in that year :

  1.   5.5% had conditions imposed on their registration or an undertaking accepted
  2.   2.8% received a caution or reprimand
  3.   0.6% had their registration suspended or cancelled
  4.   0.1% were fined
  5.   19.2% were referred to another body or retained by a health complaints entity, and
  6.   71.7% resulted in no further action
