Experien and Medico Legal Services (MLS)

Experien recently helped Dr Ray Wallace, the Medical Director of MLS to reduce his medical indemnity premiums by around 30% and enhance his cover. Ray was one of the many doctors who had failed to review his cover recently or engage a broker like Experien to provide advice on competitive options.

Ray was impressed with how quick and easy it was to switch to new cheaper but comprehensive cover.

Ray said “Many doctors sign up with one insurer when they start private practice and never look at it again. I was amazed at how much I could save and encourage all of my medical colleagues to consider reviewing their own cover.”

Ray has been involved in the medicolegal industry for over 25 years and more recently, took up the position of Medical Director with Medico Legal Specialists (MLS). Experien took the opportunity to understand Ray’s business and gain an understanding of the opportunity for medical specialists to augment their income by working with MLS ad hoc or part time to provide Independent Medical Assessments.

Since its inception in 2009, MLS has grown rapidly to become a leading provider of medico-legal reports servicing a nationwide client base. By leveraging its deep medical heritage, MLS has become an industry leader in delivering innovative and customized solutions across all disciplines of insured injury.

MLS prides itself on being able to attract and retain the services of industry leading specialists. MLS offers its medical panel training as well as comprehensive back office support services. MLS shoulders the entire administration burden leaving its specialists to focus only on the assessment. Medical specialists sign up to panel without a sign up charge, and are offered ad hoc work from time to time that suits their capacity to supplement their income. Its diverse panel of around 250 specialists provides opinions for independent medical examinations, file reviews and many other expert advisory requirements. MLS is continually expanding its medical panel and is currently pursuing an active and targeted recruitment drive to support growth.

MLS does not require exclusivity and works with its specialists to offer a customised solution that best fits the underlying practitioner’s individual requirements and clinical commitments.
